Website

You can see Breckland Lodge from the A11 beside the Attleborough roundabout.

We had seen Blondie in Thetford Forest the night before and a fry up was much needed on the journey home.

Choose a table and place your order at the bar.

Although quite dark it is very nice inside.

Prices seemed quite reasonable and a veggie option was available.

Sauces can be requested once the food arrives.

An excellent cappuccino was included in the price.

The toast was served nice and hot with two small packs of real butter.

The dark light inside made it difficult to take decent photos, the breakfast was served slightly stacked and looked great!

A nice pair of fried eggs and excellent quality sausage.

Everyone must have a list of things they want to do before they die, I know I do and it is always satisfying ticking things off the list. Seeing Blondie live has been on my list for sometime now so I was delighted when my wife kindly got tickets to go and see them in Thetford Forest. Some friends were going too and we were staying at a campsite nearby meaning we could drink without worrying about how to get home again. Blondie were excellent and better than I was expecting, the only downside was that the night went far too quickly. Luckily plenty of people on the campsite were up for drinking till silly o'clock, yep an excellent night!! The sun was shining the next day and my thoughts turned to breakfast, a full English at Breckland Lodge to be precise..

Upon entering - Head inside the Stag Restaurant building (the bigger building opposite is the hotel) and look for the bar area. It is spacious with a traditional/contemporary feel inside the bar's dining area, also quite dark but if you are not taking pics this is not a problem! Each table has a menu, salt, pepper, sugar and a table number, remember your number when placing your order at the bar as they will ask you. Pay at the bar whilst placing your order and find the cutlery tray as none arrives with the food. Although nice inside I did find the ordering process not particularly obvious, perhaps it was just me being slightly hungover! 7/10

Service - I waited at least 5 minutes at the bar until anyone arrived to take my order but once somebody did arrive they were really efficient and seemed to enjoy their job. My wife was not feeling too hungry so went for the children's breakfast, I went for the full English. When ordering we were given options for how we wanted our eggs, potato slices or hash browns and brown or white toast. We were told there would be a 35 minute wait for food as they were very busy and drinks would be brought over. We were asked if everything was ok and the table was cleared once it was obvious we had completely finished eating. 7/10

Contents - 1 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, 2 hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, 2 slices of toast & butter hot drink.  8/10

Presentation - Although the food looks quite randomly placed on the plate some thought had gone into stacking it nicely and I remember being impressed when it arrived, so much so in fact that I forgave the fact it was served on a square plate. Everything looked great and I was keen to eat it right away! 8/10

The food - A really juicy and quality sausage accompanied the excellent bacon, both were cooked nicely. The hash browns were a tad overcooked but still nice enough and the fried eggs were perfect. The toast was good and went nicely around some of the delicious bacon, the rest of the toast made a great base for some of the nice stodgy beans with eggs then placed on top allowing the egg yolk to soak in nicely. The mushrooms were great, not too greasy and not too dry. Nice tasting tomatoes finished off this much needed delicious breakfast which was a real pleasure to eat! 9/10

Value for money - The full English served with toast and a cappuccino cost £6.75, excellent value for money and delicious! 9/10

Veggie option - Yes, but extra items instead of meat alternatives.

Overall - Definitely worth popping in if you are passing, great food at fair price in a nice environment served by friendly staff. 8/10

  1. We go there regularly on a sunday morning, consistently good, but the restaurant area can get very busy.

  2. Went a few weeks ago, terrible service and food to match. Everything that could be deep fried clearly was and a real struggle to find a clean table. Unbelievably lazy staff and not cheap, this place used to be really good. A massive disappointment
